Evan Trubee was elected to Palm Desert City Council in 2022, after serving on the Palm Desert Resource Preservation and Enhancement Committee and the Public Safety Commission. He chose to run for Council because he believes quality of life is the key to Palm Desert’s future as a place to live and work. He believes an emphasis on quality of life is essential to municipal decisions that set priorities, allocate resources, and enhance economic resilience in Palm Desert.

The Palm Desert quality of life attracted Evan from his first visit. Both he and his then-girlfriend and now wife, Kristen, fell in love with Palm Desert and all the amenities the city has to offer. During frequent visits before their marriage, they recognized that the quality of life and the safety of the area would be ideal for raising their family. They moved here from New Jersey and their passion for Palm Desert has never waned. They emphatically embrace the area – the beauty and climate along with the incredible mountain views.

Evan is the owner of Big Wheel Tours in Palm Desert. He has been cycling ever since receiving his first tricycle, and often combines cycling with travel through the Mountain West, Alaska, and beyond. His passion fueled a business that links his love for biking, hiking, and travel with Palm Desert’s climate, environment, and tourism. Big Wheel Tours also brings Evan in frequent contact with visitors from around the world, which, for him, adds an extra dimension to Palm Desert’s special quality of life. Big Wheel Tours today employs 12 people and showcases our beautiful desert to more than 10,000 people per year.

As a small business owner, Evan is active in the Palm Desert and Coachella Valley business communities. He serves on the board of the Palm Springs Hospitality Association and belongs to the Palm Desert Area Chamber of Commerce.

Both Evan and Kristen are active in the Palm Desert community. Besides serving as a youth sports coach for the past 14 years, Evan is President of his Palmira Palm Desert homeowner’s association. Kristen is an elementary school teacher for DSUSD. Their three children live with them. Two are current students in Palm Desert and the third graduated from Xavier College Prep and is attending college.

Attend A Council Meeting 

Members of the public are welcome at all meetings of the City Council. Regular meetings of the Palm Desert City Council are held the second and fourth Thursdays of every month convening at 3:00 p.m. for Closed Session and at 4:00 p.m. for the Regular Session and Public Hearings.
