The Public Works Department is responsible for the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of the City’s infrastructure including streets, sidewalks, storm drains, traffic signals, and landscaping. The department also oversees graffiti removal, engineering review of land development plans, and implementation of City-funded improvement projects. Report a Problem
To report a problem quickly and easily, please use the Palm Desert In Touch mobile service request system. Using Palm Desert In Touch is as easy as sending a text. Users can also upload a photo or video showing the issue and indicate its location on a map or use their mobile device's GPS to mark the location automatically. Utilizing the information provided, the City will follow up as soon as possible to track down the problem and address it.
National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Information
The National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit program addresses water pollution by regulating point sources that discharge pollutants to waters of the United States. City Facilities
The Facilities Division of the Public Works Department is accountable for and performs maintenance and improvements at city owned buildings. Private companies are contracted to care for janitorial, HVAC and electrical services. City owned facilities include the following:
- City Hall
- Corporate Yard
- Parkview Building
- State Building
- Palm Desert Historical Society (Fire Station)
- Henderson Building
- Portola Community Center
- Wallaroo Center
- The Artists Council Artist Center
- Fire Stations 33, 67, and 71
