The Community Gardens are open to all Palm Desert residents and business owners, whether they are novices or master gardeners. Palm Desert’s Community Gardens provide residents with an opportunity to learn the joys and benefits of gardening. They are a place to share gardening experiences, make new friends, gather advice, and learn.

Palm Desert has six Community Gardens: Guadalupe, Santa Rosa, San Nicholas, Catalina, Freedom Park, and University Park. The Guadalupe, Santa Rosa, San Nicholas, and Catalina gardens are located on the southwest side of San Pablo Avenue between Santa Rosa Way and Guadalupe Avenue. Freedom Park is located at 77400 Country Club Drive in Freedom Park. University Park is located at 74902 University Park Drive.

The Community Gardens Plots may be rented for a flat fee of $40.00 beginning September 3rd through July 30th. They are closed in August for yearly maintenance. Reservations for Gardening Season 2024-25 will be accepted beginning September 3, 2024, at 7:30 AM on a first-come, first-serve basis. Calls received before then will be put at the end of the waiting list.

To reserve your garden plot, simply call (760) 776-6444 or (760) 346-0611, ext. 444, and leave your full name, phone number, preferred garden plot numbers, and chosen payment method (credit card, check, cash). You will receive a call back as soon as possible with your assigned plot. At this time, you will be sent the Community Gardens rental agreement for signature.

For questions regarding Community Garden rental, please contact the Community Gardens email at communitygardens@palmdesert.gov or by phone at (760) 776-6444.

*San Nicholas Gardens will undergo renovations for the FY 24/25 season. In the event of an early reopening, priority will be given to those on the waiting list as of September 1st.
