Feedback Sessions, March 2023

In March 2023, the City of Palm Desert and Desert Willow Golf Resort staff held four input and feedback sessions at the Desert Willow Clubhouse. These sessions allowed interested residents to gather ideas and suggestions about the Palm Desert Resident Golf Card, the Champions’ Club, and Platinum Card programs. Comments from these sessions can be found at this link

After considering the feedback from our community, Palm Desert City Council approved the recommendations shown on the right side of this page. To review how these recommendations influence the Resident Golf Card, Champions' Club, and Platinum Card programs, please expand the accordion widget at the bottom of this page.

About Desert Willow Golf Resort

Developed and owned by the City of Palm Desert in 1997 in an effort to increase tourism and revenue, Desert Willow Golf Resort is operated by Kemper Sports Management. The stunning clubhouse contains a well-equipped pro shop as well as a full-service restaurant.

It doesn’t matter if you play golf; there is simply no better place in the valley for food and breathtaking views to enjoy breakfast and lunch. Visit their website to schedule a tee time or to check out the many other events happening at Desert Willow.

If you're interested in obtaining a Desert Willow Resident Card, please review the information on this document. Residents must bring proof of residency to the Palm Desert Community Center, located at 43900 San Pablo Avenue in Palm Desert, between the hours of 6 a.m. and 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturdays, and closed Sundays.

City Council Recommendations

Below are the recommendations approved by City Council on Thursday April 13, 2023.

  • Consider and authorize a change to the booking window time for all programs from 12AM to 7PM, to provide better accessibility to available tee times.
  • Consider and authorize an increase to the Champions Club membership to 72 players at $65.
  • Consider and authorize priority access to the Champions Club membership by offering a Loyalty/Tenure rewarded priority (members with 5 or more years of participation given right of first refusal) and remaining memberships offered via lottery.
  • Consider and authorize an increase to the Platinum Club booking window from 21 days to 60 days.
  • Consider and authorize leaving the Resident Card Program as is, no changes.
  • Authorize City Manager to review and amend programmatic changes on an annual basis and implement non-substantive changes in subsequent fiscal years.

These approved recommendations will create the changes to the programs shown in the accordion widget below. Not all programming is finalized; therefore, ranges have been offered as possibilities.

The final details of the programming will be released as the programs are rolled out in the fall of 2023 but the recommendations will be followed as approved above.

If there are additional questions about the programs shown in the accordion widget below, please contact Ryan Szydlowski, Director of Golf or Derek White, General Manager by contacting Desert Willow Golf Resort at 760.346.0015.
