The Housing Division oversees the City’s affordable housing programs, rent review, and the Palm Desert Housing Authority (Authority). The Authority owns and operates fifteen communities delivering rental opportunities by subsidizing 1,100+ affordable rental units.

The Authority routinely hires contractors to provide maintenance or updates to our communities. If you're interested in these opportunities, please review the City's Bid and Vendor page for open requests for proposals (RFP).

Rental Opportunities

Our rental opportunities page has information on our rental program. Any tenant and prospective rental applicant inquiries, questions about certifications, or maintenance concerns should call the Authority's property management team's Palm Desert office at 760-674-1139.

Home Ownership Opportunities

The Authority provides homeownership opportunities through assistance to over 250 homeowners as part of the Home Buyer Assistance program. Qualifying income levels for most of the City’s affordable housing programs range from very low (20% of the County median) to moderate (up to 120% of the County median).

Additional Housing Programs & Resources

Palm Desert also offers lower income households assistance through its additional programs and resources, one being our Home Improvement Program for emergency repairs in the form of an emergency grant. Qualifying households that own their home and qualify as lower income may contact the Housing Division for more information at 760-346-0611 ext. 412.
