Palm Desert City Hall is pleased to welcome people who wish to conduct business in person with City staff. City Hall is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Payments will be accepted until 4:30 p.m. City services continue to be offered by phone, email, or online. If you prefer to continue to do business remotely with the Permit Center, we encourage you to do so by sending us an email. 

Please note that while the City is open for in-person business, digital submittals are more efficient and expeditious.

A Wide Load Permit must be obtained for any "oversized" vehicle exceeding the legal limits for weight and/or dimension, as defined by the California Vehicle Code (CVC 35783). The City of Palm Desert permit allows the movement of only the vehicle/load described in the approved permit, and only within its city boundaries. Encroachment Permit

Digital Plan Submittal 

Before submitting documents, please review our Electronic Plan Submittal and Signature Policy. Once your documents are processed, you will receive a download receipt. Please note the following:

• Permit type and address should be included in the subject line.

• All submittals should be labeled in the naming, e.g. encroachment permit, pool drain permit, etc.

• PDF files submitted cannot be protected or digitally signed that prohibits editing.  Your plans will be secured once approved and stamped.

• We cannot accept files larger than 200MB.  For files larger than 200MB, please submit more than one file if necessary, i.e. Architectural, MEP, Structural.

Please allow 1-5 business days for processing, and anticipate a telephone call or email with further instructions. Please check your spam folder for any emails received from the City.
