Palm Desert is ranked one of the safest cities in southern California. Police, Fire, and Paramedic services are contracted through the County of Riverside. A substantial portion of the City's annual budget is dedicated to public safety services.
Residents and visitors can access information about significant incidents in and around Palm Desert on the Palm Desert Police Department's new online bulletin. Entries list the time an incident was reported, a brief description, and the location where it occurred.
Palm Desert also has an active Citizens on Patrol (COPs) program, through which residents volunteer to serve as the eyes and ears of the police in their neighborhoods and around the City.
